Nalgene Sustain Awarded Popular Science’s “Best of What’s New” 2020 Innovation Award

Not only are Nalgene fans loving the new Nalgene Sustain – Industry experts recognize the innovation and product engineering that has gone into bringing a unique sustainable product made from 50% recycled plastic waste, to the category. Nalgene Sustain has won the “Best of What’s New” Award from Popular Science within the Sports and Outdoor Goods category. Popular Science annually reviews and awards the top 100 innovations and technologies that make a significant difference in their industry.

“We’ve significantly multiplied the environmental benefits of a reusable bottle…”

Elissa McGee, General Manager

This past August, we were first to market with our Nalgene Sustain bottles to fulfill a critical demand among eco-conscious consumers seeking more impactful ways to reduce their carbon footprint. The new bottles are made from 50% certified recycled material from waste with Tritan™ Renew. This revolutionary technology rescues single-use plastic materials from landfills and transforms what was once waste into safe, durable, performance-oriented recycled material ideal for reusable consumer goods.

“The Best of What’s New Awards showcase the year’s greatest feats of human ingenuity,” says Popular Science Editor-in-Chief Corinne Iozzio. “Even in a year like 2020, innovation has helped us glimpse a future that’s safer, smarter, and more enjoyable than we might have thought possible. This collection, which includes everything from a new generation of Mars explorers to ultra-hygienic print-to-order eyeshadows, is full of items we’re proud to call the Best of What’s New.”

Each Nalgene Sustain bottle rescues the equivalent of eight single-use plastic bottles from landfills. It’s a more sustainable reusable water bottle without any compromise. Same weight, same shape, same size, and just as durable as ever! Throw it in the dishwasher day after day; you’re using a recycled bottle to refill and reuse while automatically reducing waste.

“It’s a win-win,” says Elissa McGee, general manager, Nalgene Outdoor. “With a Nalgene Sustain bottle made from 50 percent recycled single-use plastic, we’ve significantly multiplied the environmental benefits of a reusable bottle without compromising the quality, function, or performance that made Nalgene famous.”
