We Made It Simple… Sarah Made It Hers.
Q: In 3-4 sentences please introduce yourselves and give a short bio of who you are.
A: Hey hey everyone, Sarah here! I am a 28-year-old (retired) flight attendant who took her life savings to purchase a travel trailer that will become my home for the next 3-5 years! Along with my camper, I have been raising my sweet Australian shepherd puppy, Tate, who just hit 6 months! I am truly a lover of all things outdoors, adventures galore, Nalgene, overalls, and a really good beer!
Q: Where are you currently residing? (State)
A: While I renovate my camper I have been residing in Salt Lake City, Utah! However, when the renovations are complete the pup and I will be traveling all around the U.S. until it is time to get back on the Appalachian Trail to complete my thru-hike ( covid paused it for 2020) next March!
Q: What is “thru-hiking” and how did you get into it?
A: For those that don’t know what I mean by thru-hiking simply put it means that I am hiking an insanely long trail from the start to the end in one direction! The first thru-hike that I will be completing is my Appalachian Trail hike which is 2,193 miles that stretches from Georgia to Maine. My goal is to earn the triple crown which is for all three longest hikes in the U.S. (Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest, and the Continental divide)! Most people think I am a bit crazy for wanting to spend 5- 6 months of my life hiking in one direction but it has been a dream of mine since I was little! I got into thru-hiking because I love anything that can test me physically and mentally! It is not easy but definitely worth it every time you hit another mileage milestone!
Q: Do you have any advice for people who want to get outdoors and adventure?
A: For anyone that wants to get outdoors and adventure my advice is always the same… Just get out there and go for it! You truly never overcome your fears until you attempt something that terrifies you! Adventuring in the outdoors truly will change the way you view life and will allow you to appreciate the trees, water, and smokey the bear more than you normally would! I know the gear seems expensive and that can be a factor in not wanting to give something a try but I promise you the gear just like your Nalgene bottle will last you for so many adventures! YOU GOT THIS!
Q: How does Nalgene make your life simpler?
A: People think I am kidding when I say my Nalgene bottles change the way I hike, climb, and live each day! I truly am never without my Nalgene and that’s why I own so many! For climbing it’s so simple for me to attach the bottle to my harness without stressing about adding too much weight and for hiking it’s nice to be able to differentiate my clean filtered water versus my not-so-clean water! I actually have a Nalgene just for my pup so that if he doesn’t finish his water I can toss it back into his bottle without stressing and having to just dump it and I don’t have to waste my own water! Thanks to my Nalgene I am always hydrated and ready to take on so many different adventures!
