DAVID KILEY
First, let me say that I have been using Nalgene bottles since the mid 70’s and I LOVE them. I own more Nalgene bottles than any 10 hikers need.
Recently I bought 4 of the 16oz. Clear Wide Mouth Tritan Bottle. I’ve noticed something interesting when I was filling it with 16oz.(2 cups), when preparing a freeze dried meal. The measurements on the side of the bottle ONLY go to 14oz. I then filled the bottle using a 2 cup measuring cup and Yes, the bottle does hold 16oz. if you fill it to within a 1/4″ of the top.
I thought this was strange consisting my 32oz. and 48oz. bottles all have marking up to the 32 and 48 oz. I even compared it to an old 16oz. wide mouth bottle and they have a 16oz. mark. It seems Nalgene has made these new bottles the same height, as the old, but they reduced the diameter slightly.
I’m just not sure why they did this. If you make a 16oz. bottle with measurements, why would you not have a top marking be a 16oz marking.

I had this water bottle for 4 years and now I’m here to replace it. Best water bottle ever. Perfect size when you’re able to refill frequently.
