More Than a Bottle
Supporting Clean Water Projects Across America
The Nalgene Water Fund was created in August 2019 to support domestic communities struggling with access to clean water by partnering with grassroots nonprofits to raise funds and awareness.
To date the NWF has identified programs in Appalachia, Flint, MI, Navajo Nation, and Benton Harbor MI, to benefit from more than $1.2M in financial and in-kind donations.
Proudly made in the USA, Nalgene Outdoor is committed to supporting local communities.

Our CUrrent Project
Hydrate with a Purpose: Help Bring Clean Water to Appalachia.
We all love the epic adventures and awe-inspiring landscapes of the Appalachian region, but many of its communities still lack access to basic plumbing and reliable, clean running water.
To celebrate the Nalgene Water Fund’s five-year anniversary of fighting the U.S. water crisis, we’re proud to announce a $50,000 donation to DigDeep’s Appalachia Water Project as well as a limited edition water bottle.
Every community deserves clean running water.
We’re expanding our mission with a limited-edition Appalachia Water Bottle. Inspired by the region’s breathtaking blue ridgelines and winding rivers, this exclusive bottle is the perfect way to give back to the region that fuels your outdoor adventures.

Ongoing Projects
Flint Community Lab
In 2020, we teamed up with Thermo Fisher Scientific to build something Flint, Michigan needed: a water testing lab run by the people who live there. Together, we contributed nearly $650,000 in lab equipment, funding, and Nalgene bottles for sample collection.
The Flint Community Lab is staffed by local high school and college students and operates independently from any government entity. For a community still rebuilding trust in its water, that independence makes all the difference.
Navajo Nation Water Crisis
Over 2.2 million people in the U.S. still live without access to running water or basic plumbing, and the Navajo Nation is one of the hardest hit communities. We partnered with Diné designer Jaden Redhair to create the limited-edition “Tó éí iiná” (Water is Life) bottle, with $5 from every sale going toward clean water solutions on the reservation.
Donations support DigDeep’s Navajo Water Project and its home water system installations, as well as COPE and its student-led water testing program. After record sales and multiple reprints, our customers helped raise nearly $94,000 for these two partners.
